Instructions
- Activate the Yeast
Place the yeast and warm water in a small bowl. Stir once and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes slightly foamy. - Warm the Milk Mixture
In a microwave-safe container, combine the milk and buttermilk. Heat gently until warm but not hot. It’s normal if the buttermilk separates slightly. - Add the Butter
Stir the softened butter into the warm milk mixture until melted and combined. - Start the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine the milk mixture, activated yeast, sugar, salt, and 1 cup (125 g) of flour. Using a mixer with a dough hook, beat on high speed until smooth. - Add the Egg
Add the egg and mix until fully incorporated into the dough. - Add Remaining Flour
Gradually add the remaining flour a little at a time until the dough pulls cleanly away from the dough hook and forms a soft dough. - Let the Dough Rise
Lightly flour the dough and shape it into a ball. Place it in a well-greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour, or until doubled in size. - Shape the Rolls
Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and roll it out to about ½ inch (1.3 cm) thickness. Cut into 12 even rectangular pieces. - Form the Rolls
Fold the ends of each rectangle underneath to create a roll shape. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet and let them rise again for 20 minutes. - Bake the Rolls
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the rolls for 12–15 minutes until they are lightly golden on top. - Brush with Butter
Remove from the oven and brush the tops with melted butter for extra softness and shine. - Prepare the Honey Cinnamon Butter
In a small bowl, combine softened butter, cinnamon, honey, and confectioners’ sugar. Mix until smooth and creamy. - Serve Warm
Serve the warm rolls with the honey cinnamon butter spread generously on top.
